At the heart of every day at The Ivy House is the Noble Quran. From the moment our pupils arrive in the morning until they leave us as young women at the end of Year 11, the Book of Allah shapes the rhythm of their school life, the formation of their character, and the depth of their learning.
Our Hifdh Programme is a five year specialist pathway that walks each pupil through the complete memorisation of the Quran, alongside her academic studies. The journey is structured and paced so that she is given the time to memorise with accuracy, the depth to understand what she is learning, and the joy that comes from carrying the words of Allah within her. By the end of Year 11, our intention, with the help of Allah, is that she will be a Hafidha: a guardian of the Quran.
The programme is taught and overseen by staff who are Umm Ul Qura trained and accredited. This is not a small detail. It means our pupils are taught by women who have themselves been formed in the classical disciplines of Quranic recitation, Tajwid and memorisation to a standard recognised internationally, and who carry that tradition into every lesson. The Quran our pupils learn here is the Quran of an unbroken chain, taught with the precision and care it deserves.
What the day holds
Hifdh begins before the academic timetable starts. Every morning, Monday to Friday, our pupils memorise, revise what is new, and revise what is held. Across the week, dedicated lessons in Tajwid teach the rules of beautiful recitation, a Tarbiyah lesson nurtures the character that the Quran asks of the one who carries it, and a Reflection session gives our pupils the space to consider what they are learning and what it is making of them.
What we promise to parents
Your daughter will be taught by qualified, accredited teachers who love the Quran and know how to teach it. She will be given the pace that suits her and the depth that her ability allows, never rushed and never held back. She will be supported when she finds it hard and stretched when she is ready to go further. She will leave us, by the will of Allah, with the full Quran memorised, with the discipline to keep it for the rest of her life, and with the character of a young woman who has been formed by the words she carries.
The Prophet, peace be upon him, said that the best of people are those who learn the Quran and teach it. Our Quran provision is built so that our pupils may stand among them.
