Character and Identity Formation

At The Ivy House Secondary School for Girls, education is about more than academic success. Our Character and Identity Formation programme is designed to nurture young women of faith, knowledge, wisdom and purpose, developing both the heart and mind alongside academic excellence.

Grounded in our Trust’s Tarbiyah framework, pupils are guided through a carefully sequenced five year journey that helps them understand who they are, what they believe, and how they can contribute positively to the world around them. Through Islamic Studies, Tazkiyah personal development, curriculum subjects, assemblies, mentoring and daily school life, pupils develop strong moral character, intellectual confidence and a deep sense of responsibility.

Our programme supports pupils in:

• Developing a strong relationship with Allah and a clear Islamic identity.
• Building self discipline, resilience, gratitude and emotional intelligence.
• Understanding character, conduct and personal responsibility.
• Cultivating excellent manners, respect and integrity.
• Engaging thoughtfully with contemporary issues and the modern world.
• Understanding history, civilisation and the experiences of communities across the world.
• Developing critical thinking and intellectual confidence rooted in an Islamic worldview.
• Learning from the rich legacy of Islamic scholarship, including the contributions of Muslim women throughout history.

By the end of Year 11, an Ivy House pupil is equipped not only with strong academic qualifications, but with the confidence, character and discernment needed to navigate modern society while remaining firmly grounded in her faith and values. She leaves as a thoughtful, compassionate and intellectually serious young Muslim woman, prepared for further study, leadership and service.  Our aim is simple: to nurture young women who are academically capable, spiritually grounded, morally principled and ready to make a positive contribution to the world.
