At The Ivy House Girls School, our curriculum is designed to awaken hearts, illuminate minds and prepare young Muslim women to lead lives of faith, purpose and service.
We believe that education is one of the most powerful means through which a child comes to know her Creator, understand her purpose and develop the knowledge, wisdom and character needed to navigate the complexities of the modern world. Our aim is not simply to prepare pupils for examinations, but to cultivate young women who think deeply, act with integrity and use their knowledge to
benefit the Ummah and
Rooted in the Islamic worldview, our curriculum is founded upon the principle that all true knowledge comes from Allah. Knowledge is therefore not treated as disconnected information to be memorised and forgotten. It is explored, understood and applied so that pupils can discern truth from falsehood, analyse evidence critically, make sound judgements and respond thoughtfully to the challenges of their time.
Our broad and ambitious curriculum encompasses Islamic studies, Qur’an and Arabic, alongside science, mathematics, literature, languages, history, geography, technology, the arts and physical education. Each subject is taught as a rigorous discipline with clear progression in knowledge and skills, while contributing to a coherent understanding of the world and our responsibilities within it.
We hold high aspirations for every pupil. Whether a student
chooses to pursue medicine, engineering, law, education, entrepreneurship, research, public service or any other field, our role is to provide the academic foundation, intellectual discipline, confidence and opportunities that enable her to realise her ambitions. We want our pupils to understand that faith and excellence go hand in hand, and that they can aspire to the highest levels of achievement while remaining firmly grounded in Islamic values.
Students are encouraged to ask profound questions, investigate the causes and consequences of historical and contemporary events, evaluate ideas and evidence, and develop the confidence to engage with issues affecting society and the wider world. Through this process, they come to understand that knowledge carries responsibility and that learning should lead to wise action, justice and service.
Alongside academic excellence, our curriculum gives equal importance to spiritual growth and character development. Drawing upon the Islamic tradition and the teachings of scholars such as Abu Hamid al-Ghazali, pupils are guided in the purification of the heart and the cultivation of sincerity, humility, resilience, compassion and moral courage. We seek to nurture not only capable students, but principled young women whose inner character is as strong as their intellectual ability.
Inspired by the Qur’anic supplication:
“And say, ‘My Lord, increase me in knowledge.’”
— Qur’an
we encourage every pupil to pursue knowledge as an act of worship and as a means of drawing closer to Allah.
Arabic and Qur’an
Arabic and Qur’an are central to our educational vision. Our programme is delivered in partnership with Umm Al-Qura University under the academic direction of Abdullah Bawazir.
Through this partnership, pupils benefit from a structured and internationally informed approach to Arabic language acquisition and Qur’anic studies. They develop fluency in the language of the Qur’an, secure knowledge of grammar and vocabulary, accurate recitation with tajwīd, and the ability to understand and reflect upon the meanings of the divine text.
As part of this unique partnership, pupils may also have the opportunity to participate in a two-week educational study visit to Makkah, where they can experience immersive Arabic learning and engage directly with the academic environment of Umm Al-Qura University. This international experience enriches their linguistic development, broadens their horizons and strengthens their connection to the language and heritage of the Qur’an.
Our goal is not merely that pupils recite the Qur’an, but that they understand its language, internalise its guidance and allow its teachings to shape their worldview, decisions and character throughout their lives.
The Outcome
By the time they leave The Ivy House Girls School, our pupils will be young Muslim women who:
Our mission is to nurture a generation of young women who are spiritually grounded, intellectually powerful and morally courageous women who seek truth, embody excellence and use their education to bring benefit to the world and earn the pleasure of Allah.

At The Ivy House Girls School, the curriculum is the means through which pupils come to understand the world, deepen their relationship with Allah and develop the knowledge, competencies and character needed to lead lives of purpose and service.
We believe that education should not consist of the passive accumulation of disconnected facts. Knowledge becomes truly valuable when pupils understand how ideas are connected, recognise the underlying principles that govern the world, and apply what they have learned to solve real problems and make wise and ethical decisions.
Our curriculum has been developed through more than twenty years of research and educational practice by Gardens of Jannah Trust and is designed to unite academic excellence, spiritual development and character formation within a coherent Islamic worldview.
Pupils study a rigorous academic programme that equips them to master disciplinary knowledge and think with increasing sophistication. Across all subjects, they learn to:
Arabic, Qur’an and Islamic studies are central to life at The Ivy House Girls School. Through our partnership with Umm Al-Qura University under the academic direction of Abdullah Bawazir and the Iqra Arabia programme, pupils strengthen their Arabic language skills and gain access to authentic linguistic and scholarly traditions.
These subjects help pupils understand the Qur’an more deeply, engage directly with Islamic scholarship and connect all areas of learning to faith, meaning and moral responsibility.
Pupils also have the opportunity to participate in a two-week educational study placement in Makkah, accompanied by a parent, guardian or maḥram where appropriate. This immersive experience enables pupils to develop their Arabic in an authentic environment, experience the spiritual atmosphere of the Haram and deepen their connection to the intellectual and spiritual heritage of Islam.
We want pupils to see knowledge as a practical tool for understanding and improving the world. Financial literacy, entrepreneurship, artificial intelligence, technology, environmental stewardship and ethical leadership are embedded throughout the curriculum.
Our careers programme raises aspirations and equips pupils to pursue ambitious pathways in medicine, law, engineering, computer science, research, academia, business, public service and entrepreneurship.
Pupils benefit from a rich programme of educational visits, workshops, competitions, service projects and leadership experiences. These opportunities broaden horizons, strengthen independence and inspire pupils to pursue ambitious future goals with confidence and purpose.
Our curriculum is designed to ensure that pupils leave The Ivy House Girls School not only with excellent qualifications, but with a deep understanding of who they are, why they are here and how they can use their knowledge, talents and opportunities to serve Allah, benefit the Ummah and contribute positively to humanity.
